If you're serious about becoming a doctor, Russia is a strong option. Every university we recommend is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS) — the standard licensing bodies check against. That's what lets you sit for FMGE/NExT in India, USMLE in the US, or PLAB in the UK. We verify this before recommending any university, since a degree from an unlisted one isn't worth six years of your life.
Admission runs on merit — no donation, no capitation fee, no entrance exam. Just your academic record and NEET score.
The cost changes the math entirely. Tuition runs ₹3.5 lakh to ₹8.5 lakh a year, subsidised for international students. Set that against ₹35 lakh to over a crore for a private seat in India.
You'll study in English, with a real support system. Classes run fully in English from day one, and most university cities have established Indian communities so food, festivals and a peer network are already in place. Russia has trained international medical students for over 60 years, with clinical exposure starting earlier than most Indian colleges offer.
On the question that matters most: yes, you can return and practise in India after your MBBS, provided the university is WDOMS-listed and NMC-compliant. That's the first filter we apply, always.

India needs 6 lakh more doctors. Global healthcare demand is rising, and WDOMS-listed graduates have licensing pathways in India, USA, UK, Australia and Canada.
A recognised degree doesn't mean you can practise anywhere immediately — every country has its own licensing exam.
FMGE / NExT after graduation, then State Medical Council or NMC registration
USMLE — Steps 1, 2 and 3
PLAB (moving to UKMLA)
AMC MCQ Exam, then AMC Clinical Exam
